Message from the President
Welcome to Olds College! Since first opening our doors in 1913, we have provided quality education and training to launch successful careers for almost a full century of learners. We pride ourselves on providing real-life, hands-on education that positions our students for a lifetime of unlimited learning and success. And today, Olds College is working harder than ever to further enhance our comprehensive programming and expand our facilities.
We experience new success in those efforts constantly, and the benefits to students, staff and faculty can be seen all around us. Recently, we completed the structures that comprise the Community Learning Campus, including the Ralph Klein Centre (home to numerous facilities including Olds High School and our Health and Wellness Centre), Fine Arts and Multimedia Centre and Bell e-Learning Centre. These facilities, in conjunction with numerous broadband internet Community Engagement sites around Central Alberta, allow us to offer new possibilities and new channels of learning that challenge existing preconceptions of what a postsecondary institution does for its students.
Other new facilities such as our brand new Canadian Equine Centre of Innovation and our newly expanded year-round Landscape Pavilion offer even more learning opportunities. And not all of our growth and new opportunities are bricks and mortar. Perhaps you are a life-long learner seeking opportunities through our continuing education programs – or capitalizing on our many partnerships with other leading institutions, allowing you to study even beyond our large curriculum here in a rural setting. Your options are almost too numerous to count – and that's because the focus and priority of Olds College will always be on the success of our students.
Our progressive approach to learning links our students with cutting-edge technology, exceptional facilities and expert instruction. Olds College instructors excel as some of the leaders in their field. We work closely with community, business and industry to continually refine our curriculum in response to industry trends, so that our students receive the skills that are in demand in the current workforce. In this way Olds College graduates are highly employable and begin their careers at the top of the list.
All this goes hand in hand with our commitment to the creation of centres of excellence, the furthering of applied research and an unwavering emphasis on sustainability and good regional stewardship as outlined in our business plan. Whether it's our new Botanic Gardens and Treatment Wetlands, simultaneously demonstrating all of those values, or the formation of the Central Alberta College-Community Partnership with our joint partners, we live and breathe those commitments each day.
We also work hard to provide the best student experiences available anywhere. Olds College is a friendly and inviting campus, with small class sizes and instructors who care. Our campus is vibrant and inviting, with dozens of student clubs and activities including recreation, competitive athletic leagues and our award-winning rodeo club. The Olds College experience is rich and rewarding, making us your home away from home.
