
Admission and Registration Information - Apprentice Programs
REGISTRATION AND PROGRAM DATES
Please refer to the ‘Registration and Program Dates’ for your registration date, time and location.
FEES
Tuition, fees and residence (if applicable) are due on or before Registration Day. You are encouraged to make payment now to save time during the registration process.

- In addition, approximately $200 will be required to cover books and supplies for each training period. Students are advised NOT to purchase textbooks before meeting with their instructors.

You will access the above information through My Olds College
You will require your Olds College ID number and My Olds College PIN from your admission letter to log-in.
REFUND POLICY
- Fifty percent of the $300 deposit will be refunded if the apprentice cancels admission in writing, prior to registration day.
- A full refund (exluding the $300 deposit) will be issued if the apprentice cancels enrolment within the first three days of training period.
- A refund will not be issued if apprentice cancels enrolment after the first three days of training period.
- If the College cancels a training period, a full refund will be granted.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
- Processing takes approximately six to eight weeks, therefore it is extremely important to apply well in advance of your first day of classes.
- Financial assistance in the form of a non-repayable grant from Alberta Works is available for eligible apprentices attending technical training. Packages are available from most post secondary institutions or any Alberta Employment and Immigration office. Feel free to contact Sharon Notley at (403) 556-8285 for further information. You will be expected to pay all of your fees on registration day, regardless if your grant has not yet been processed. Check the Student Finance website at or Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training for more information.
- Saskatchewan Landscape Gardeners— All applicants from Saskatchewan must apply to their local Apprenticeship Office for funding.
APPLYING FOR EMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS
Apprentices now have the option to apply on-line up to 7 days prior to the scheduled last day of work. Please visit the Service Canada website for further information and an application form.
APPRENTICES ENROLLING IN 'BACK TO BACK' TRAINING
- Apprentices can enroll in “back to back” training after the first five days of their initial training period.
- One hundred percent of the $300 deposit will be refunded if the apprentice is not eligible to enter into the next period of training.
PARKING PERMITS AND FEES
- All vehicles on campus must display a current parking permit. Parking is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The Parking Application Form is now available.
- Please read through the parking regulations. Non-compliance will result in fines. Please Note: Backing in to any stall is not permitted.
- Students are required to purchase a parking permit from registration day until April, 2013. Upon completion of your program, please return your permit to the cashier to receive a refund for any unused months.
STUDENT MEDICAL FORM
All apprentices new to Olds College are required to complete and submit a Student Medical Form.
ID CARDS
Submit your photo for your Olds College Student ID (IDOC Card).
Students are required to carry their IDOC Card at all times - this card will be necessary to verify fees, process refunds, access computers and eat in the cafeteria.
RESIDENCE
All admitted students are eligible to apply for residence. Apply early as rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
OFF CAMPUS HOUSING
Living on or off-campus is a personal decision for each student. You may wish to refer to the Off-Campus Housing List available through the Olds College Students' Association.
When living off-campus, you are able to purchase a residence meal plan or put a lump sum of money on your IDOC card to use towards purchasing food in the Frank Grisdale Hall residence cafeteria and the cafeteria in the Land Sciences building.

Carpenters

Agricultural Equipment Technician and Heavy Equipment Technician
- Safety glasses/ goggles (Preferably not tinted)
- Two pair of coveralls (minimum)

- 3/8 and 1/2 drive socket set
- 3/8 – 1 wrench set

Welders:
