Edwin Arthur Patching

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Ed Patching.
Ed was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on April 26, 1923 and grew up on a farm in the Sterling Raymond area. As an adult, Ed lived and worked in Calgary, Lacombe and Red Deer. Ed was a devoted father, husband and family man and served as a role model to all who knew him. Ed was a sports and outdoors enthusiast throughout his life playing on basketball and baseball teams in his younger years and participating in a variety of activities in his later years including gardening, hiking, fishing, camping, skiing, golfing and curling. He loved animals and his pets were his constant companions.
His work career included Dean of Men at Olds College, Manager of Alberta Wheat Pool and General Manager of Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance Corporation. Ed was actively involved in the United Church throughout his life. Ed was predeceased by his first wife Elna in 1989 and his second wife Martha in 2000. He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Brenda May (Robin) Barbara Patching (Jerry Bulman), Kathy Rocan (Yvan), and Karen Patching; his second family Barbara Adams (Brett), Bryan Askin (Lorraine) and Brad Askin (Cathy); fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Ed will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
