Bruce Douglas Wells

Agriculture 1969

1949 – 2007

After a brave struggle of many years, Bruce died February 28, 2007 in Abbotsford of coronary vessel disease.

He is survived by his son Grayson of Abbotsford, BC who took extremely good care of his dad during his last year; Marilyn of Tsawwassen, BC his wife of twenty year now separated but always a concerned friend; his stepdaughter Teresa Lea (Mike) with grandchildren Lisa and Ben of Celista, BC and Andrew Stone of Red Deer, AB; and stepson Colin Stone (Natasha) and grandchildren Jenna and Franklin of Red Deer. His mother Catherine Bystorm of Calgary, and sister Judy Riedner of Banff.

Bruce was born in Eckville, the son of Langton and Catherine (Hansinger) Wells. After farming and attending school in the Sylvan Lake area, Bruce attended Olds College, majoring in Business. At 24 he became the youngest salesperson for Sun Life of Canada. His next career involved selling real estate for many years in Red Deer and area. In 1990 he moved to Prince George and began working again for Sun Life.  Meeting and surpassing many of the Sun Life Company goals, he rapidly moved from Top Salesperson for Western Canada to Unit Supervisor, to Sales Manager for Northern BC and the Yukon. After becoming disabled Bruce and the family moved to Abbotsford.

In 1998 he moved to Sooke, BC where he took the captain squadron courses, became actively involved in the Salmon Hatchery, manned the marine Radar/radio during storm disasters and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the natural beauty of coastal life.

We will miss Bruce’s sense of humor, his analysis of the news, his studies of wildlife, his latest creative endeavors and his love of children.
