Partnerships
Olds College has developed a number of partnerships with industry, alumni, government, foundations, associations and friends of the College. Partnerships have resulted in increased learning opportunities, access to new technologies and financial support for our learners.
The following are several examples of partnerships that have resulted in program enhancements and new learning opportunities for students:
Olds College Botanic Garden |
Phases I and II of the Botanic Garden in the central corridor of Olds College were constructed between 2001 and 2004. The gardens area is used as a “living laboratory” for students enrolled in a number of Horticulture programs on campus and for short courses offered during the summer months. The next stage for the Botanic Garden is the creation of a Treatment Wetlands. |
Bell e-Learning Centre |
In March 2007, Bell Canada and Olds College announced a partnership to create a state-of-the-art distributed learning facility at the Olds College Campus. The Bell e-Learning Centre - made possible through a $3.1-million investment by Bell - will be pivotal to the new Community Learning Campus. |
Calgary Campus |
The partnership between Olds College and the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede is long and fruitful. In October 2006, the partnership was propelled by the opening of the Olds College Calgary Campus in the heart of Stampede Park. This partnership will provide a range of unique training opportunities for both rural and urban learners. |
Community Learning Campus |
Unique in Canada, the CLC is an innovative approach to high school, post-secondary, and community education, and assists in advancing government rural development strategies. The principle partners in this initiative are Olds College and Chinook’s Edge School Division. |
John Deere Training Centre |
In 1997, the John Deere Training Centre was established at Olds College to enable specialized training opportunities for Service Technicians employed in John Deere dealerships across Canada. Several customized training programs including Pro Tech and Ag Tech are offered in these facilities. Students enrolled in both diploma and apprenticeship training are able to access the latest equipment available in the marketplace. |
Landscape Pavilion |
The Bank of Montreal, Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association and the horticultural industry funded the establishment of the Landscape Pavilion to permit student projects in landscaping, turf, arboriculture and other areas of horticulture to be undertaken 12 months per year. This building facilitates instruction in a climate controlled environment when outdoor weather would otherwise prevent such activities. |
