Partnerships and Projects

Olds College has developed a number of partnerships with industry, alumni, government, foundations, associations and friends of the College.  Partnerships have resulted in increased learning opportunities, access to new technologies and financial support for our learners and highly qualified skilled employees for our industry partners.

The following are a few examples of partnerships and Projects that have resulted in program enhancements and new learning opportunities for students:

Olds College Opportunities Fund

The Olds College Opportunities Fund enables Olds College to pursue educational priorities and unanticipated opportunities for students and faculty, awards and research, and campus enhancement for which funding would not otherwise be available.

With your support, Olds College can respond quickly and effectively to opportunities that support our vision to be the premier Canadian integrated learning and applied research community specializing in agriculture, horticulture, land and environmental management.

Olds College Botanic Garden & Treatment Wetlands

Phases I and II of the Botanic Garden in the central corridor of Olds College were constructed between 2001 and 2004.  The gardens area is used as a “living laboratory” for students enrolled in a number of Horticulture programs on campus and for short courses offered during the summer months.

The next stage for the Botanic Garden is the creation of a Botanic Gardens III and Treatment Wetlands Research Facility.

Landscape Pavilion

The Bank of Montreal, Landscape Alberta Nursery Trades Association and the horticultural industry funded the establishment of the Landscape Pavilion to permit student projects in landscaping, turf, arboriculture and other areas of horticulture to be undertaken 12 months per year.  This building facilitates instruction in a climate controlled environment when outdoor weather would otherwise prevent such activities.
