H:/ Drive Fix

You will continue to have intermittent H drive connection issues. You may have to remap your H drive and refresh your desktop sometimes. If you get an Access Denied message, you will have to follow Pete’s instructions from the other day:

You may have to do this every day, there may be days and/or computers that you don’t have to do this. It depends on how many people are connecting, what we are doing and/or other things going on at the time. We know this is inconvenient, thus we made it a simple one click fix in Pete’s email.

This is because we are STILL fighting this virus. It has not gone away. We are doing MANY “things” to your computers as they start up. We MUST do this to keep fighting and trying to get control of this virus. On top of this slower connection (thus failure to map the H drive properly), many of you have noticed that you have been locked out when you attempt to login. Again, this is because the virus is randomly trying to login to user accounts that it has harvested.

I assure you that we are continuing to do everything possible to rid the campus of this virus. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause you at login, but rest assured that it is necessary to get control of this widespread issue.

Making a Shortcut

• Your computer needs to be Thawed for this to stay
• Copy this file to your T:/ drive
  • H-Drive Staff Mapping
• Right click on the Desktop
• From Drop down menu select New
• From the second menu select Shortcut
• Browse to the file you just copied above
• Click Next
• Give the shortcut a name or accept the one given
• Click Finish

Putting the Shortcut to Start Menu

• Drag and hold the Shortcut you made above over the Start button
• Wait for the Menu to popup
• Drag and hold the shortcut over the All Programs button
• Drag the shortcut to were in this menu or any submenu you would like the shortcut to appear
• Note: there is divided section at the top of the first menu that does not change. This might be a good place to put the shortcut.
