How to access your files when “off-campus”
*** This works only for Internet Explorer 7. ***
There is some “limited” access to your files while you are away from the Olds College campus. It’s not the perfect solution, but it is temporary. We will be eventually moving to a more mobile solution in the next year or two.
You cannot make changes to these files on the network, but you can open them, print them, email them and save them to the local computer where you are so that you can work on them. Any changes you make to the local document will not be reflected automatically back at Olds College. You will have to email the document to yourself or copy it to a USB stick to update it on the Olds College server once you are back in the office.
Follow these instructions to access your H:\ drive files:
- Open webmail – https://webmail.oldscollege.ca/
- Login with your usual username and password
- Click on Documents in the bottom left corner of the screen – the following screen appears:

- Click Open Location
- Type the path to your H drive - \\olfsrv\student\yourusername where yourusername is equal to your 9 digit ID number (000012345)

- Click Open
- Double-click on folders until you “browse” down to your file’s location
- Double-click on your file to open it. NOTE: the computer that you are using must have the software that is required to open the file. For example, the computer you are on has to have Microsoft Word to open a Word document.
- Save the file locally (if you wish) to the computer you are using to work on it once you have the file open. (Use File…Save As in the application you are using).
- Print the file locally once the file is opened
- Right-click and click on Send by Email on the file if you want to email it to someone else
Open Monday to Friday 8:15am to 4:30pm
