There are 3 levels to accessing the wireless system using a captive portal setup. Level 1 is a basic guest login with unsecure Internet access only. Level 2 is a basic staff/student login. From there you can create access to; network drives and printers. Level 3 is full network access, just like a wired connection you have with your desktop machine. To get this you need to have an Olds College owned laptop and have Information Technology (IT) set that up for you.
Level 1 = Guest / Visitor Access (Internet Access only)
Level 2 = Staff / Faculty (Internet Access plus File & Print Server Access)
Level 2 = Student (Internet Access plus File & Print Server Access)
Level 3 = Staff / Faculty on Olds College Owned Laptops
As noted above this level is only available to Olds College owned laptops. You will need to bring the laptop to IT so that the laptop can be properly setup to access all available network resources. Once the IT department has prepped your laptop, the whole wireless connection will happen completely transparently. You will see your normal login and network drives will be mapped just as though you are connected via a network wire. This is also a secure encrypted network connection. You will have access to ALL our network resources.
