Family Farm Succession: Getting Started
New!
It's difficult to plan a trip if you haven't decided on a destination. Similarly, it's difficult to develop a succession plan if you haven't agreed on the future of your farm business. Farm succession is complex; it mixes business and family issues. To succeed in your intergenerational business transition, your family and emotional issues need to be identified, understood and resolved. In this interactive workshop you will learn about what key issues may pertain to your farm family. You will then develop an action plan for deciding the future of your family farm and begin the process of identifying the team of advisors you will require to develop a complete succession plan.
We recommend that all adult family members involved in the transition attend this workshop together to gain a common knowledge and understanding. However, if you have a reluctant family member, plan to attend anyway so you can clarify issues, ask questions and develop an actionable strategy.
