Soil Classification and Map Interpretation

Hands-on workshop!

You've been asking for a short course in Soil Classification, and here it is! In this hands-on workshop, you will observe and measure soil properties, examine soil profiles and relate different soils to the environmental factors responsible for their formation. You will learn how to classify soils according to the Canadian System of Soil Classification, and have the opportunity to analyze selected landscapes to assess soil variability. You will apply this knowledge in the field examining real soils, and in the classroom accessing and interpreting soil resource inventory information. After putting your new knowledge into practice you will leave with whole new appreciation for dirt...er...I mean soil! It would be beneficial to have taken the Introduction to Soil Properties and Vegetation Management Workshop prior to attending this course.
