Course Description:
Designed to acquaint the student with the broad field of bee biology and beekeeping, this course includes honey bee biology and behaviour, management for honey production, products of the hive, pests and enemies and the value of bees as pollinators of agricultural crops.

All examinations are multiple choice. The mid-terms are on-line; 1 hour duration, 50 questions. The final examination is 2 hours duration with 100 questions.
Class participation on conferences will be assessed on the quality of postings to the conferences. Additional bonus points can be accumulated to add to final grades through particularly valuable contributions.

The course requires students to read the assigned text book, learn the material covered, to discuss issues to do with bee biology and management on-line in conference groups( discussion board or a blog), to do some simple scholarly research (library assignment) and to sit examinations. A course manual describes the requirements and advises students on how to study.
Sample examination questions are provided to help students study appropriately.
