Turfgrass Management Level I, II & III
Turfgrass Management Certificate of Completion
Recognizing the complexity of the turfgrass industry, Olds College offers a series of three courses designed to meet the needs of turfgrass managers working in Western Canada.
These highly successful credit courses have undergone an extensive review and update to ensure they continue to meet the needs of turfgrass managers in a highly competitive and constantly changing industry.
The series consists of three, one-week training sessions or levels. Each level is a five day course that involves classroom lectures, lab work and evening sessions. Upon successfully passing all three levels, students are awarded a Turfgrass Management Certificate of Completion.
Turfgrass Management Areas of Study
- Establishment of turf
- Soil management
- Establishment of a turfgrass fertilizer program
- Turf mowing practices
- Specialized cultural practices
- Construction of turfgrass areas
- Management of pests, diseases and abiotic disorders
- Establishment of irrigation practices
- Drainage systems for turfgrass
- Specialized golf course maintenance
Entrance Requirements
- Level I: Approximately two years experience working in the turf industry, with any related education an asset
- Level II: Turfgrass Management Level I
- Level III: Turfgrass Management Level II
Challenging the Exam
- You may challenge the Level I exam if you have a Diploma in Horticulture or have combined experience and education equivalent to a Diploma in Horticulture.
- You may challenge the Level II exam if you have Turfgrass Management Level I and a Diploma in Horticulture or if you have a Turfgrass Management Level I and have combined experience and education equivalent to a Diploma in Horticulture.
- The fee to challenge the Level I or Level II exam is $75.00 plus any applicable proctor fee.
- The Level III exam cannot be challenged.
