Master Spinner Program
As of September 1, 2010, marking fees will be $95 for Levels 1-5 and $190 for Level 6.
After June 2011 all students will be expected to submit workbooks using the newest version of the requirements. See the bottom of this page for more details.
The Master Spinner Program consists of six progressive levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments in the area of hand spinning of all major types of fibers, yarns and the end use of the spun yarns. At all levels, students are evaluated on the basis of written assignments, practical projects, oral presentations and skill development. For each level, there is a course fee, a materials fee and a workbook evaluation fee (payable when homework is submitted for marking).
Those individuals who successfully complete the assignments in all six levels will receive a Master Spinner Certificate from Olds College.
Effective July 1, 2008: The prerequisite for entrance to Level 6 is the successful completion of all homework assignments in Levels 1-5.
