Deep Utility Installer Program

Utility installation, a basic requirement of all residential and commercial
construction has always been one of the strong and silent partners in
the construction industry—out of sight and out of mind. Pipes were
buried deep beneath our infrastructure and we did not worry about it.
Those times have drastically changed as our infrastructure is growing
with new installation of bigger and heavier pipes, multi-line installs,
and new technology. Couple that with on-going monitoring, repair
and maintenance of our aging lines and pipes, our aging workforce
looking for retirement, and we have an immediate need for trained
workers.

Installers are not only trained in the safe placement, installation
and fusing of a variety of pipe and lines types but they also have to
be aware of potential hazards such as the dangers of high pressure
pipes and gases and other safety and environmental concerns. Skills
include trenching and shoring, seepage control, hoisting and rigging,
and connection procedures to name a few. The deep utility installer also
includes the maintenance and refurbishing of existing infrastructure and
identifying and exposing existing utilities.

This 10 week program will include the required industry accepted safety
tickets and certifications: H2S, First Aid, CSTS, RSTS, and Safe Trenching,
Excavation and Ground Disturbance (STEGD). The program includes the
following components:

• Work Ethics and Conditions, and Personal Organization.
