“We learned lots. It was just the best opportunity!”

Glynda Saul

“I found out about this program from an online search. I’m learning a lot here, plus it’s great to operate the equipment.”

Matt Downs

Program Description

If you want to jump in the seat of some serious heavy metal, then the Heavy Equipment Operator program is for you. Canada’s construction and oil/gas industries employ an arrangement of giant heavy machinery operators. These machines are designed to move extreme weight with raw power. Some of equipment may include a skid steer, compactor, loader, dozer, grader and excavator. The Heavy Equipment Operator program is constructed to ensure entry level operators attain a professional standard in a twelve week program which includes a two week practicum. We will teach you to get the job done efficiently without compromising you and your colleagues safety on the site.

All of the equipment used in our program is supplied by Olds College industry partners. The classes boast a high instructor to student ratio to ensure hands on opportunity for all students. Advisors from the industry have indicated that our graduates have the theory equivalent to employees with two-years experience.
