Western Recreational Rider Certificate

If you are passionate about horses and western riding, then let your enthusiasm take you one step further by expanding your education with this new blended on-line and on-campus program.

Program Description

We are excited to announce our new Western Recreational Rider certificate program. This program has the potential to allow you to continue employment, while you study on-line.

The program will commence with eight weeks of on-campus instruction beginning in July, where the focus will be on

  • horse handling
  • western riding skills
  • health care procedures and assessment
  • administering medications
  • basic horse hoof care

Equine Guelph: helping horses for lifeFrom September through to April you will engage in on-line instruction through Equine Guelph of the University of Guelph on a part time basis. The following Spring, you will finish with a further eight weeks on campus during May and June. This study period will conclude with the Wilderness Wrangler course, a perfect way to end the program as you head off on a pack trip into the Canadian Rockies.

In total, you will complete four online courses and six on-campus courses to complete the Western Recreational Rider Certificate program.
