AHLA Hospitality Training Courses

The AHLA (Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association) Hospitality Training Course is comprised of over 100 unique video assets and designed for those entering, and currently working in the hotel sector of the hospitality industry. 

The courses use customized video assets created by The Studio at Olds College to guide the learner through the various modules. Learners will be required to watch a series of videos prior to proceeding with the assessments. This course, and accompanying videos, was developed with active leaders in the hospitality industry who were kind enough to lend their knowledge and experience to this training program.

Length of Program:  Each course can be taken over a 60 day period.

Delivery:  Online. Video-based learning.  Classes start on the second Wednesday of each month.

Fees: $199 + GST per course

Course Descriptions

Hotel Operations is designed for those individuals that are interested in employment in the hospitality sector or are new to the industry and are looking to gain an introductory knowledge of hotel operations. This course contains nine unique sections that will provide a full-picture of hotel operations:

  • 1.0 Introduction To The Accommodation Industry
  • 2.0 Introduction To The Tourism Industry
  • 3.0 Communication
  • 4.0 Customer Service
  • 5.0 Front Office
  • 6.0 Housekeeping
  • 7.0 Sales
  • 8.0 Security
  • 9.0 Food & Beverage

 

Supervision & Management is designed for those individuals that already have preliminary hospitality industry experience and are looking to move into middle-management or supervisory positions. This course will focus more on the development of leadership and communication skills and contains interviews and panel discussions with industry leaders as they share their knowledge and experience. This course contains four unique sections:

  • 1.0 Introduction To Supervision & Management
  • 2.0 Communication & Quality Service
  • 3.0 Human Resources
  • 4.0 Marketing
