Olds College Animal Science & Horticulture has an exciting Instructor opportunity to support programming in the Animal Health Programs.  This is a permanent full-time, instructional position commencing in Spring 2019.

Located in Olds, Alberta, Olds College has been offering hands-on education that supports teaching and learning of all Albertans for over a century.  This role is a key member of the instructional team and is responsible to teach courses primarily in Animal Health Technology for several Animal Science Programs at Olds College.  Instructional responsibilities will focus on both large and small animals. 

Key Areas of Responsibility include:

  • Creation and development of course materials for onsite and online instruction
  • Teaching in lecture and laboratory format and with online learning management systems
  • Evaluation of students in theory, hands on, and online learning environments
  • Working with other instructional staff to deliver quality, hands on instruction in labs utilizing animals

The ideal candidate will be a DVM with a minimum of 5-years of practice experience in a mixed animal clinic and must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, in Alberta.  The successful candidate must be comfortable with dogs, cats, horses, cattle and sheep and be current with skills and knowledge of those species.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to interact professionally with students and staff is required.  A passion for aiding students in facilitating their Animal Health learning and education is necessary.  Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary or adult instructional experience.
