Olds College Community Learning Campus (CLC) is seeking candidates to fill the role of part-time, contract position(s) of Recreation Instructor.  The Recreation Instructor will provide knowledgeable instruction for a variety of fitness, athletic, recreational and sport activities for both youth and adults thereby supporting the Community Learning Campus mandate of providing quality fitness and recreation programs.   This position will commence as soon as possible, and will terminate on June 30, 2019, and will report to the Manager, CLC Fitness Centre.

Olds College Community Learning Campus (CLC) is seeking candidates to fill the role of part-time, contract position(s) of Recreation Instructor.  The Recreation Instructor will provide knowledgeable instruction for a variety of fitness, athletic, recreational and sport activities for both youth and adults thereby supporting the Community Learning Campus mandate of providing quality fitness and recreation programs.   This position will commence as soon as possible, and will terminate on June 30, 2019, and will report to the Manager, CLC Fitness Centre.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Preparing lesson plans and facilitating recreation, athletic, fitness, and sport activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining and filing logs, records, and prepares reports.
  • Assembling, preparing, maintaining or repairing recreational equipment and supplies.
  • Responding to first aid and emergency situations as required.
  • Demonstrating athletic, fitness or sports activities and techniques.
  • Instructing groups, and individuals in sport, fitness, or leisure activities.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of facility following the completion of recreation programs.
  • Understanding all health and safety, and emergency protocols as well as enforcing Community Learning Campus Fitness & Recreation Rules and Regulations.
  • Attending and participating in all scheduled staff meetings and training.

 Qualifications:

  • Experience instructing youth and related experience working in a fast-paced environment will be considered an asset.
  • Energetic, flexible, and professional with the ability to organize large groups while managing time and resources
  • Has effective communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
  • Able to handle cash with accuracy
  • Able to maintain composure and objectivity and handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
  • Current Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search that is free of any offenses.
