The International Student & Faculty Learning Coach role is focused on working directly with students and faculty providing expertise and direction to support the academic success of International students at Olds College. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Primary point of contact for International and English Language Learner (ELL) student academic support
  • Provides faculty support in pedagogy supporting International and ELL students and provides guidance in inclusive instructional design and learning spaces
  • Provides one-on-one support for students and faculty and manages tutoring staff to provide content-specific support for International Students.  
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Learning Services and Olds College International team to develop and deliver professional development activities and workshops for faculty and teaching staff.
  • Leads needs assessments and initiates programming to support International and ELL populations academically.

A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline (Education, International Relations, Social Sciences, Counselling) combined with five years experience in a related field are required for this role.  The successful candidate displays high emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills combined with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. The candidate must possess practical and theoretical knowledge of ELL pedagogy and strong intercultural communication skills.  International experience, having lived or studied abroad, and proficiency in a second language would be considered assets for this role.
