Olds College Centre for Innovation (OCCI) is currently recruiting for a temporary position of Technician I in the environment, wetlands and crops research areas. OCCI specializes in a wide range of research areas so the candidate will work on a variety of exciting research projects. The anticipated term of employment is from May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2020 with a possible extension.

Responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

  • Conducting tests and investigations in the field to obtain data for use by Research Scientists
  • Performing field tests per prescribed procedures, processes and standards
  • Using specialized equipment to prepare analyses, reports and/or technical drawings
  • Entering data and using analytical software applications
  • Performing data input, organization and maintenance

Minimum of two years post-secondary education or experience in a related field; Degree preferred.  The successful candidate will be a self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.  In addition, the preferred candidate must successfully complete WHMIS certification training and be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office and Google Applications. A valid class 5 driver’s license, a current criminal reference check that is free of any offenses and the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs are required.  This position may require long days and weekend work at key periods during the research season; candidates must be physically fit and able to work outdoors for extended periods in all weather conditions.
