The Community Learning Campus is seeking a summer student for the position of Recreation Assistant. The anticipated term of employment is from May 6, 2019 to August 30, 2019. Hours of work are typically 9:00 AM - 5:15 PM with the occasional requirement to work evenings and/or weekends.

The Community Learning Campus is seeking a summer student for the position of Recreation Assistant. The anticipated term of employment is from May 6, 2019 to August 30, 2019. Hours of work are typically 9:00 AM - 5:15 PM with the occasional requirement to work evenings and/or weekends.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with summer camp marketing, administration and instruction.
  • Assist with promotion, and administration of community and campus special events.
  • Assemble, or prepare supplies and recreational/fitness equipment.
  • Organization, and cleaning of storage rooms, equipment and facilities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Data entry, and general administration duties for Recreation and Fitness Centre.
  • Attends, and participates in all schedule staff meetings, and training.
  • Understands and enforces Community Learning Campus Fitness & Recreation Rules and Regulations. Understands all health and safety, and emergency protocols.

The successful candidate must be returning to High School or a Post-Secondary diploma/degree program in the 2019-20 academic year. Candidates are required to have current First Aid/CPR, and will be requested to obtain a Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search. Related experience working in a fast paced environment will be considered an asset. The incumbent must be comfortable with engaging the public and enjoy working with youth, and posse the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Temporary employees shall be paid in addition to their regular rate of pay, fourteen percent (14%) of their earnings in lieu of vacation and named statutory holidays.
