UAV Soil Electrical Conductivity Evaluation

Drone with Sensor

A sensor attached to a drone (UAV or unmanned aerial vehicles) flies low across fields to create a map of electrical conductivity of the soil, which is a measure of salinity — an important indicator of soil health. Normally this sensor is mounted to a quad, tractor hitch or a person carries it; this project will determine the feasibility of using a drone — beneficial for surveying remote areas and limiting crop damage and soil compaction.
