Personalized & Group Tours

Tour campus on a day that better fits your schedule with options for a more individualized tour or book your school group for a visit customized to your interests. 

Visit opportunities are available Monday to Friday between 8:30 am - 3:00 pm and each tour typically lasts about an hour and a half with staff available to answer any questions you may have.

Green Certificate Trainee Events

Are you a Green Certificate trainee interested in a program offered at Olds College? We offer two unique events designed to give you additional information about the College through a guided campus tour and program session, while learning from our instructors and gaining skills for your Green Certificate program. Registration numbers are limited and this form will close to submissions once the maximum capacity has been reached.

 

Green Certificate Equine Science Program Preview Day March 3rd, 2017.

 
We have set up a campus visit designed to help you explore educational opportunities in our Equine AND Animal Sciences and gain experience needed for your Green Certificate program.
 
Dr. Marion Anderson, Chair of the Equine Science program, will be presenting on Skill A7, “Describe and Understand the Reproductive Cycle”, as well as Skill A8, “Understanding Different Breeding Technologies.”  
 
Trainers / parents are welcome to attend the classroom portion but space may restrict their participation in the Equine Reproduction Barn.

Green Certificate Large Animal Anatomy Workshop

FRIDAY, MARCH 31st, 2017

We have set up a campus visit experience which is only available to Green Certificate trainees and trainers. Your visit will be designed to help you explore educational opportunities in our Certificate Program in Meat Processing and our diploma program in Agricultural Management.

During the workshops, Brad McLeod from the Olds College Meat Processing program will cut/dissect an entire swine and beef carcass and then cover the tasks in skill C1 “Demonstrate A Basic Knowledge of Animal Physiology and Anatomy.” This lab experience will also provide you with insight into what happens to an animal when slaughtered in a licensed facility.

2017 Young Farm Worker Safety Training Workshop - Monday April 10

 
This year's workshop has two components and you can choose which one to attend:
1,  The Young Farm Workers Safety Training Workshop goes from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and has a variety of farm safety topics for young farm workers, Green Certificate Students, GC Trainers, Parents and Farm Supervisors. If you are connected to the Green Certificate Program, then the $45 program fee is covered.
 
2.  The Farm First Aid Session goes from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  CPR Level A - AED & Safety on the Farm Module
In this course, students will learn to activate Emergency Medical Services, provide assistance to an adult whose heart has stopped or who is choking, and learn to recognize signs and symptoms of stroke. This course also includes AED certification. Also the two-hour Safety on the Farm module can be added to a number of St. John Ambulance First Aid courses. Upon successful completion, participants receive two certificates; one for Safety on the Farm and one for First Aid training.  The cost for this training is $80 per person. If you are connected to the Green Certificate Program, $45 of that fee will be covered. (If you are a parent driving a group of students to the workshop, take this opportunity to increase your first aid skills.)
