Business Management Diploma - ABM College Cohort

The Business Management cohort program requires enrolled students to complete their first year of study at ABM College, and their second at Olds College. The program of study will remain the same at both colleges, and students will have the opportunity to study in two uniquely different environments.

Application Information:

  • Students who are currently enrolled or who have graduated from the ABM College Business Administration certificate may apply for a second year offered at Olds College in the Business Management diploma program.

  • To qualify, eligible ABM students and graduates must:

    • submit an application and provide a non-refundable $78.75 application fee.

    • provide a copy of the following to the Olds College Office of the Registrar:

      • Interim and/or Final transcripts from ABM College

      • Documentation confirming English Language Proficiency requirements (TOEFL, IELTS, etc)

      • A copy of a Study Permit for the duration of the program

Admission Information:

  • The selection process for the ABM College cohort is competitive​ as there are limited seats available.
  • Factors that determine eligibility include grades, English Language Proficiency, and immigration status.
  • Admission Letters are sent to admitted students via email.
  • Admitted students are required to pay a Tuition Deposit in order to secure their seat in the ABM College Cohort.

Tuition Deposit:

  • A $2,500 ​Tuition Deposit is required by Olds College by March 1, 2018 ​in order confirm a seat in the program
  • An additional Tuition Deposit of $5,000​ (for a total of $7,500) must be paid by May 1, 2018

Refunds:

  • If an admitted student cancels their spot in the cohort prior to June 1, 2018​, the tuition deposit will be refunded, minus a $1,000 cancellation fee.
  • If an admitted student cancels their spot in the cohort after June 1, 2018​, they will not receive any refund.
  • If the college cancels the program at any time, admitted students will have all fees refunded.

Admitted Student Information

Program Dates: Find out when you term start and end dates are, so that you know when you are expected to be in attendance. For more information, please review the Program Dates & Fee Schedule.

Class Registration: You will be registered into your classes automatically. This will happen approximately 1 month prior to the start-date for your program. You will be notified once you have been timetabled into your courses. You will be able to see your class schedule in your My Olds College account. Please note, as this is a cohort-based program delivery, we are not able to accommodate course changes and substitutions.

Technology Recommendation: It is strongly recommended that you come to Olds College with the following technology:

  • A device capable of running Microsoft Office, preferably a laptop

As part of your student accounts, all students have access to Office 365 for the duration of their time with Olds College. To access this you just need to follow these steps:

  • Go to portal.office.com
  • Enter your Olds College email address and password
  • Once logged in there is a button on the right that says "Install Office Apps"

This will give you access to the full Office suite on your computer, for both Windows and Mac based platforms.


Materials & Supplies:

Information on other required textbooks and any further supplies will be provided as you attend each class. All books and supplies will be available during the first few weeks of classes in the College Campus Store.


Other Important Information:

  • Time Requirements: The role of a student in the Business Management program is a challenging full-time job. You should anticipate, on average, three hours of class time plus approximately seven hours of additional study and homework for each class each week.

  • Additional Skills: Presentation & public speaking skills

  • Dress Code: Most students prefer to wear casual clothing to class. It is recommended that you bring semi-formal clothing with you so that you are prepared for employment interviews and other industry opportunities that may present themselves.

  • Attendance: Regular attendance is critical to success.
