During your studies in the Brewmaster program at Olds College, there will be ample opportunity to obtain both required and optional practical experience in the brewery in the production of beer. The brewery serves as an integral part of Olds College’s busy event schedule, so there is frequent activity in and about this popular location. Our Brewery store is a year-round revenue generation activity that also providing you with the opportunity to practice your newly acquired skills. Furthermore, you will gain a solid foundation in your trade with numerous industry guest speakers and tours of different brewery facilities, barley producers and maltsters. Brewmaster students embark on a now annual trip to the Yakima region in Washington State, one of the world’s leading hop producing regions, plus they are given opportunities to attend other international field trips, conferences and trade shows. It is our intent to expose you to the full breadth and depth of the brewery trade.

The Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program is designed to provide you with an array of options to help shape your future. A few options for a graduate Brewmaster students include: Brewer, Brewery Entrepreneur, Brew Pub Operations, Brewery Supplies Representative, Licensee and Agency Sales and Operations, Marketing and Public Relations, Retail Sales, Special Events, Research Technician and Maltster.

In our fourth year offering the Brewmaster program, I can assure you that there is plenty of demand for the skills and knowledge that the Brewmaster Program will give you. Our experiences routinely confirm that graduates and students in-program are able to find placements in breweries across Canada and in a variety of different positions. Olds College’s unique position in the Barley Belt of Canada also leads to opportunities in a number of other brewery related trades.

Your decision to attend Olds College is your first step toward a rewarding career.
