Online Classes Continue 

Olds College is working closely with Alberta Health Services to respond effectively to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. 

Under the recommendations of the Government of Alberta, all in-person classes have been cancelled for the winter and spring/summer semesters. Classes have resumed in an online format. As we move to this online world, we anticipate a high volume of questions. We wish to extend our appreciation to all of you for your patience and kindness as we navigate these new circumstances together.

Student safety continues to be our first priority, all faculty and student meetings must be done virtually. 

As stated by the Alberta Government, the March-April and May-June intakes for apprenticeship training are cancelled, this includes any Apprenticeship program that started after March 2, 2020. Parking Refunds

Students will receive a refund for parking, prorated to March 13, 2020. Staff will receive a refund for parking prorated to March 20, 2020. 


Food Service & Campus Housing

All food services located at Olds College are closed. Students who are on a meal plan will be refunded from the date provided on the Move Out Notice Form.  

Thank you to all of the students who were able to vacate campus housing last week. We continue to work with students to help them vacate residence, and support them through this process. As of March 30 all students will be moved out of residence and campus housing will be closed. Effective immediately no visitors are being permitted to visit campus housing.

Public Access Restricted

Most campus buildings are now locked with access only granted to college staff and Instructors via swipe cards or keys. If you need an external building key please complete the Kissflow key request and these will be fast-tracked to you. Security can also be called to provide access to staff. The Learning Resource Centre and Brewery remain open during business hours. 


Updated Travel Restrictions for Staff

Olds College business related travel, outside of the province, is not permitted. Effective March 25, any Olds College employee choosing to travel outside of the province for personal reasons is required to self isolate for 14 days and work from home. If working from home is not possible, this period of self isolation will have to be taken as vacation days.    


Staff & Faculty Working from Home

The health and safety of our staff and students continues to be our top priority. Employees are asked to work from home when operationally possible. Employees who are required to perform a critical function and/or whose physical presence is necessary to perform their work as determined by their supervisor will need to continue to come to campus.

  • the Atrium located in the Land Science Building, Wetlands and Botanic Gardens
  • CLC Fitness Centre, riding arenas and gymnasiums 
  • Elements Dining Hall, the Crossing, Tim Hortons and Centre Court in RKC
  • All student lounges, such as the Hive
  • The Retail Meat Store
  • The Campus Store
  • Weekly Greenhouse Sale

The following spaces are open: 

  • The Learning Commons front desk is open, however the social spaces in the Learning Commons are closed. The computer lab located beside the Learning Commons will be open weekdays, 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Social distancing protocol must be followed when using the computer lab.
  • The Health & Wellness Centre remains open, however all counseling appointments will now be done over the phone or through video conference. Doctors will not be on campus, the school nurse will be available. 
  • The Brewery will remain open, but limit patrons allowed in at one time.
