Update 45: January 3, 2022

As we begin the winter term, the health and safety of the campus community remains our first priority. With COVID-19 Omicron variant cases and transmission on the rise, Olds College will be implementing the following changes.

Online Classes and Labs, where possible from Jan. 10-21, 2022

All classes, including labs, will be delivered online until Jan. 21, 2022,  where possible. This approach is being implemented by the majority of post secondaries in Alberta and supported by the Government of Alberta. There are some programs that may still have an in-person requirement. You will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 4, confirming the delivery method for your specific program.

The campus remains open, including the learning commons, campus housing and dining. However, visitors and social gatherings are not permitted.

Proof of Vaccine Program

As outlined by the Government of Alberta, and in Olds College’s Proof of Vaccine Policy and Procedures, all any student, employee or visitor who are on campus, or students living in campus housing, must:

Work from Home Effective Immediately

Effective immediately, employees who can work from home should do so. People managers may grant approval for employees to be on campus if their physical presence is required for the continued maintenance and operation of campus facilities, or they require access to specific resources or technology to do their job. We are asking all employees to limit in-person interactions with each other as much as possible, as such staff gatherings and in-person meetings are not permitted.

Travel for Olds College professional development is suspended for this period of time.

Masks

As part of the Government of Alberta’s Proof of Vaccine Policy Program for post-secondaries, masks remain mandatory for indoor public spaces.

Vaccine appointments can also be made online through Alberta Health Services.

If you are sick, stay home.

It is imperative that if you are showing any signs or symptoms of COVID-19, or are asymptomatic but tested positive on a rapid test, that you do not come to campus and follow the Alberta Health Services isolation and quarantine guidelines. Employees are asked to notify their supervisor immediately if they feel unwell.  Students are asked to continue to fill out the Student Isolation Form if they are experiencing symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19.
