Olds College Hosts Colleges and Institutes Canada International Conference

July 23, 2017, Olds, Alberta: Olds College was honoured to host Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) for a unique development opportunity. The CICan Leadership Institute for Emerging Leaders of International is a program designed for employees and managers of post-secondary International departments who seek leadership development. The delegation, including mostly Vice Presidents and International Department Directors, travelled to Olds College from across Canada and were at the College from July 16 through 21.

Olds College Hosts Colleges and Institutes Canada International ConferenceThe members in charge of facilitating training included Ann Bouler, President of Centennial College; Alain Roy, CICan Vice President of International Partnerships; Don Young, Dean of International for St. Lawrence College; and Olds College’s own Dr. Pablo Ortiz. Other guest presenters included: Olds College VP of Student and Support Services, Debbie Thompson and Dean, School of the Arts, the School of Hospitality & Tourism for Selkirk College, Pat Bidart.

Participants examined a number of key areas, including self-assessment and skills assessment, the role of the International Division in different institutions, the opportunities and challenges of offshore projects, programs and campuses, and risk management in international work.
