Olds College Announces Stuart Cullum as Next President

May 29, 2017: Leona Staples, Chair of the Olds College Board of Governors, announced today the appointment of Stuart Cullum as the new President and CEO of the College.

Stuart Cullum“After completing an extensive executive national search, we are very pleased to announce that Stuart Cullum will serve as the 13th President of Olds College,” said Staples. “Mr. Cullum brings a depth of knowledge and experience from the agriculture industry and his past career experiences have also provided him with a strong network across the post-secondary system in Canada.”

Most recently, Cullum served as Olds College Chief Innovation Officer. Prior to joining Olds College he held academic and administrative leadership roles at Lethbridge College and NAIT.

“In his current role as Chief Innovation Officer at Olds College, Mr. Cullum has been instrumental in the development of the Werklund Agriculture Institute and positioning Olds College as a leader in Smart Agriculture,” continues Staples. “We are very excited about the future of Olds College and the direction the College will take under Mr. Cullum’s leadership.”

Mr. Cullum succeeds Dr. H.J. (Tom) Thompson, who has served as President and CEO since 2001. Mr. Cullum will assume the role of President and CEO of the College on July 1, 2017.

Stuart Cullum Biography

Stuart Cullum is an executive leader with experience in private industry as well as the finance, post-secondary and not-for-profit sectors. Stuart joined Olds College in November of 2016 as Chief Innovation Officer, where he has been responsible for leading the College's innovation agenda, by aligning academic and research programming with industry and government priorities.

Prior roles include, Vice President Academic and Chief Operating Officer at Lethbridge College, Vice President Agriculture at Northlands, and Executive Director, novaNAIT (NAIT’s Applied Research and Company Development division). While in these roles, Stuart and his team established programming and centres for research, teaching and learning, company development and entrepreneurship, attracting partnerships and more than $45 million in external support.
