    Fibre Enthusiasts Gather! Our Fibre Week event in June has something for everyone. Check out our short workshops, fleece shows, merchant mall, evening activities, and our famed Master Spinner and Master Weaver programs.
  • Master Weaver
    The Master Weaver Program is consists of five progressive levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments.
  • Master Spinner
    The Master Spinner Program consists of six levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments in the area of hand spinning of all major types of fibres, yarns and the end use of the spun yarns.
  • Fleece Shows
    The shows are judged in a public format to provide an educational opportunity with a variety of animal fibres for Fibre Week registrants as well as the general public.

Hand Weavers, Spinners & Dyers of Alberta

As one of Canada’s most significant provincial fibre arts guilds, HWSDA exists to foster and promote the development of fine craft in the Province of Alberta for both amateur and professional craftspeople.  Implicit in this objective is an active involvement in government, social, economic and educational issues as they affect the Arts in Alberta, and to distribute information on available scholarships, material sources, exhibitions, shows and workshops to all interested parties.

HWSDA has grown into one of Canada’s most significant provincial fibre arts guilds.
