    Fibre Enthusiasts Gather! Our Fibre Week event in June has something for everyone. Check out our short workshops, fleece shows, merchant mall, evening activities, and our famed Master Spinner and Master Weaver programs.
  • Master Weaver
    The Master Weaver Program is consists of five progressive levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments.
  • Master Spinner
    The Master Spinner Program consists of six levels of classroom and independent study involving skill development, research studies and project assignments in the area of hand spinning of all major types of fibres, yarns and the end use of the spun yarns.
  • Fleece Shows
    The shows are judged in a public format to provide an educational opportunity with a variety of animal fibres for Fibre Week registrants as well as the general public.

Accommodation Options

Most participants prefer to stay on the campus and take advantage of Olds College Townhouse or Dormitory accommodations. New this year is the fantastic Centennial Village dormitories, as well as the College Court Townhouses.  If after reading the below information, you still have questions, please see the following Frequently Asked Questions.

Centennial Village is equipped with single rooms, with a double bed. Each room has its own washroom and a small closet. Please note, that we do require at least one person over the age of 18 in each room. Room rates are as follows (linen and towels provided):

Single occupancy:  $70 + GST and Hotel Tax
Double occupancy:  $80 + GST and Hotel Tax

Guests also have the ability to launder items in Centennial Village (pay per wash).

College Courts are small town house style units with 4 bedrooms (one single bed in each room), and two full washrooms, as well as a small kitchen and living space. The kitchen is equipped with a stove/oven, fridge, and sink. There is no microwave, dishes, dish towels, pots/pans, utensils, etc. provided. There needs to be at least one adult over 18 in a town house with the group.

$260 per townhouse ($65 per person) + GST and Hotel Tax

This year, townhouses are in the process of being renovated.  The price above indicates the renovated townhouse rate.  A small number of townhouses which are still in their original state will be provided a discount.

Guests in both accommodation options also have the ability to launder items in Centennial Village (pay per wash).

Please note that there are a limited number of townhouses, and applications will be granted their preferred accommodation choice based on availability, on a first come, first served basis.  You must provide by email, fax or mail, a completed application form for you to be considered for accommodations.  Credit cards numbers can be omitted and phoned in once you have sent the form to Conference Services.

Also located on the grounds of Olds College is the Pomeroy Inn and Suites.  This venue offers a variety of options:

Meals

If you would like to pre-purchase coupons for meals in Elements Dining Café, you can do so by emailing conferenceservices@oldscollege.ca. You can also pay for your meal upon entering Elements Dining Café. Each meal is a flat fee per person and includes a soup/ salad bar, sub/sandwich bar, a daily variety of hot entrees, desserts, beverages, and an assortment of healthy selections.

Rates are listed below:

  • Breakfast (7:00am-9:00am) - $7.15
  • Lunch (11:00am-1:00pm) - $11.25
  • Dinner (5:00pm-7:00pm) - $13.25
  • All three meals per day - $31.65

Please note that all food and beverage purchased in Elements Dining Café must be consumed in Elements Dining Café.

A cafe within the Ag Mech Building will be made available during lunch periods of the Merchant Mall.  This is a cash only option.

Travel Arrangements

Calgary-Olds Airport Shuttle Bus: 

A shuttle from the Calgary Airport will be available for registered participants of our workshops and programs for a small $65/trip fee.  Once your classes are confirmed as per the main page of the Fibre Week website, please register for the shuttle with your flight number.  Please note the only shuttle times currently available are:

Thursday June 15, Calgary Airport Pick Up:  4pm (leaves airport)

Saturday, June 17, Calgary Airport Pick Up:  4pm (leaves airport)

Monday, June 19, Return to Calgary Airport:  9am (leaves the college.  Estimated 10:15am arrival at Calgary Airport)

Friday, June 23, Return to Calgary Airport:  9am (leaves the college.  Estimated 10:15am arrival at Calgary Airport)

Please ensure that your class is going ahead before making uninsured air travel arrangements.  Course status will be posted on the Fibre Week home page as an enrollment update with a note indicating if there is sufficient enrollment to proceed.
