Farm

The farm is a site for many innovative and practical research projects involving industry partners and private or public researchers. Our large 2,060 acre land base allows exposure to various crops, pastures, hay crops, research projects and demonstration plots.

Olds College maintains a cow/calf herd of 160 cows. The cow herd is Gebvieh, Angus, and Simmental in a three breed rotational cross to maximize hybrid vigor.

The farm is a state of the art facility, that allows students the opportunity to take part in activities that every cattle rancher must know how to do. From castrating, to tagging, to medical aid, students will learn how to take care of the cattle just like they will need to once they complete their schooling.
