Olds College has a tradition of lowering flags on campus to half-mast position as a sign of mourning at the death of a current student, faculty or staff member, serving member of the Board of Governors or honorary degree recipient.
Flags may be lowered for National, Provincial or International incidents or deaths that have a direct connection to the College, and for national days of remembrance.

All flags (National, Provincial, College) on the Olds College Campus shall be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on all of the following dates:
December 6
As we mourn their loss and remember their lives, we reaffirm our commitment to fight the hatred that led to this tragedy, and the misogyny that still exists today.
November 11
By remembering, we pay tribute to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP who served to defend our values and freedoms. We also honour those who continue to serve our country today.
September 30
The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
April 28
The National Day of Mourning is a day to remember and honour those lives lost or injured due to a workplace tragedy and renew our commitment to improve health and safety in the workplace.
