High School Students Partake in Paper Dress Competitions

High School students from across the province flocked to Calgary to compete in The Fashion Institute by Olds College’s 6th annual Paper Dress Competitions.  Each competition features teams of two grade 11 or 12 students creating a dress entirely out of paper products.  Teams were judged on their designs and the construction of their submission. The competitions were held on two weekends in two Calgary shopping centres;  Saturday March 10 in Southcentre Mall, and Saturday March 17 at Sunridge Mall.

“I was so impressed with the level of creativity and workmanship put into the Paper Dresses this year” exclaims B.R. Pirri, Manager of The Fashion Institute by Olds College. “Students and teachers never cease to amaze me at the level they are willing to go to in order to put together such ambitious and detailed work.  I'm excited to see so many high school fashion students committed to this competition and am hoping we see them enrolled in our Apparel Technology Diploma in the future.”
