Sports Management Program Working with Canada Winter Games

Olds College Sports Management students will be involved with the 2019 Canada Winter Games, hosted north of Olds in Red Deer from February 15 to March 3. Sports Management instructors, including Larry Couture, have been engaging Canada Games organizers to ensure that our students will have a role to play.

“We are setting up some interesting opportunities for our Sports Management students,” explains Couture. “This will involve some field trips and encouraging our students to volunteer. It is an incredible opportunity for our students to have a chance to get hands-on industry training with a major sporting event in our region.”

Winter Games staff members will be holding two information sessions for prospective volunteers to learn more about the games, the role of volunteers, and what types of positions are available for volunteers. One session is focused primarily on student opportunities, and one will be held for staff, faculty and community members. Any staff and faculty who can not attend their session are welcome to attend the student session.
