Broncos Athletics to Forgo Winter Competition

November 3, 2020, Olds, Alberta: Olds College, along with several other post-secondary  institutions, have made the collective decision to forgo competing in a formal 2021 ACAC winter season. 

“Since COVID 19 has emerged, the leadership team at Olds College has considered the health and safety of its community as the preeminent factor in our decision making.,” comments Stuart Cullum, President, Olds College. “Our Broncos Athletics plays an important role in the Olds College experience and the absence of competition at the moment is felt by athletes, coaches, fans and our community. We look forward to when we can safely return to cheer on our Olds College Broncos.” 

“We are committed to the success of Olds College student athletes, in sport, in the classroom and being leaders in our community.  We are working diligently to develop a safe and responsible framework for Broncos athletes to stay engaged and have a positive academic and athletic experience.” comments Trina Radcliffe, Manager, Broncos Athletics. 

Olds College has worked diligently to provide safe working and learning environments for the fall and winter terms. All programs have gone through an academic delivery model review to determine the most appropriate delivery method, including remote delivery, on-campus learning, and a blend of remote delivery with in-person labs.  

Team specific training, practices, academic supports and exhibition opportunities for all sports at Olds College will continue to be planned for the winter term.
