Olds College Launches Matching Campaign in Support of Student Mental Health

Giving Tuesday - May Mental Health

Kicking off Tuesday, May 5, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Olds College is pleased to announce May Mental Health Month, a month-long fundraiser in support of student mental health. The campaign will run from May 5 to 31, 2020, with every dollar donated, one dollar will be matched by an anonymous donor.

Aligning with Giving Tuesday Now, a global day of giving and unity in emergency response to COVID-19 (May 5, 2020), and Mental Health Week (May 4 to 10, 2020), Olds College is looking to raise funds to support the Student Emergency Bursary Fund and student mental health initiatives.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic was confirmed and in-person classes transitioned to online, student stress, anxiety and depression levels have increased, with 87 per cent of students indicating they felt the campus environment was an important support for their mental health. Olds College is dedicated to supporting students' mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, and as always the health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority.
