
Creating a CDROM disk
CDROM disks can be purchased from Library staff for $2.00 each.
Drag and Drop Method
Step 1
- Put CDROM disk into the lower drive
- Cancel the wizard that appears
- Open Windows Explorer (My Computer, then click on the Folders icon)
Step 2
- Find the files you want to burn to the CDROM disk
- Highlight the files you want
- Left click, hold, and drag the files to the E:\ drive
- Once the E:\ icon is highlighted release the left mouse button
Step 3
- The files will be copied to a temporary location
- Click on the caption that tells you that "there are files ready to be written to CD"
Step 4
- When the wizard dialogue box appears click on "Write these files to CD"
- You can give the CDROM disk a volume name
- Click Next and wait while the files are copied to the CDROM disk
Step 5
- When the burning process is done the CDROM disk will eject
- If you would like to make a second copy make sure the "Make a second copy" box is selected
- Click on Finished to clean up the temporary files
Cut and Paste Method
Step 1
- Put CDROM disk into the lower drive
- Cancel the wizard that appears
- Open My Computer
Step 2
- Find the files you want to burn to the CDROM disk
- Highlight the files you want
- Click on Edit from the menu bar
- Click on Copy
Step 3
- Select the E:/ drive from the drop down Address bar
- Click on Edit
- Click on Paste
Step 4
- When the wizard dialogue box appears click on "Write these files to CD"
- You can give the CDROM disk a volume name
- Click Next and wait while the files are copied to the CDROM disk
Step 5
- When the burning process is done the CDROM disk will eject
- If you would like to make a second copy make sure the "Make a second copy" box is selected
- Click on Finished to clean up the temporary files
