Creating a CDROM disk

CDROM disks can be purchased from Library staff for $2.00 each.

Drag and Drop Method

Step 1

  1. Put CDROM disk into the lower drive
  2. Cancel the wizard that appears
  3. Open Windows Explorer (My Computer, then click on the Folders icon)

Step 2

  1. Find the files you want to burn to the CDROM disk
  2. Highlight the files you want
  3. Left click, hold, and drag the files to the E:\ drive
  4. Once the E:\ icon is highlighted release the left mouse button

Step 3

  1. The files will be copied to a temporary location
  2. Click on the caption that tells you that "there are files ready to be written to CD"

Step 4

  1. When the wizard dialogue box appears click on "Write these files to CD"
  2. You can give the CDROM disk a volume name
  3. Click Next and wait while the files are copied to the CDROM disk

Step 5

  1. When the burning process is done the CDROM disk will eject
  2. If you would like to make a second copy make sure the "Make a second copy" box is selected
  3. Click on Finished to clean up the temporary files

Cut and Paste Method

Step 1

  1. Put CDROM disk into the lower drive
  2. Cancel the wizard that appears
  3. Open My Computer

Step 2

  1. Find the files you want to burn to the CDROM disk
  2. Highlight the files you want
  3. Click on Edit from the menu bar
  4. Click on Copy

Step 3

  1. Select the E:/ drive from the drop down Address bar
  2. Click on Edit
  3. Click on Paste

Step 4

  1. When the wizard dialogue box appears click on "Write these files to CD"
  2. You can give the CDROM disk a volume name
  3. Click Next and wait while the files are copied to the CDROM disk

Step 5

  1. When the burning process is done the CDROM disk will eject
  2. If you would like to make a second copy make sure the "Make a second copy" box is selected
  3. Click on Finished to clean up the temporary files
