Hospitality & Tourism Management

8:30 AM CHECK IN

LOCATION: Library in the Learning Resources Centre (Building #15 Campus Map)

NOTES: complimentary lunch will be provided! The formal part of the day will end at approximately 4:30 PM.

Programs Beginning on August 27, 2018

Welding Apprenticeship, Period 1

8:15 AM to 9:00 AM CHECK IN: Check in at the Office of the Registrar and pick up your new student welcome bag! Use this opportunity to pay your fees also. (Building #17 on the Campus map)

9:00 AM CAMPUS TOUR: Meet at the Office of the Registrar for a Campus Tour (Building #17 on the Campus map)

10:00 AM to 11:00 AM INFORMATION SESSIONS: IT Presentation with IT Support Services at 10:00 AM in the Computer Lab of the Learning Commons and Student Services presentation with Sandra Griffin at 10:30 AM in the Computer Lab of the Learning Commons. (located in Building #15 on the Campus map)

11:00 AM PROGRAM ORIENTATION: Mandatory orientation for all students. Held in room 406 of the W.J. Elliot Building (Building #9 on the Campus map). After lunch, regularly scheduled classes will resume. Your program chair and instructors will communicate details with you.

10:00 AM SESSIONS & FREE TIME in various locations. This is an opportunity to learn more about the services & supports available, and to get some of the items on your 'to do' list done, like getting your Parking Pass, your Student ID Card, etc.

You will follow your class schedule in the afternoon, starting at 12:00pm.


Programs Beginning on September 4, 2018 (Off Campus)

Heavy Equipment Operator (Drumheller)

  • 9:00 AM: Drumheller Learning Centre - Google Map Link
    • The morning will be a program orientation and regularly scheduled classes will begin after lunch.

Apparel Technology (Calgary Campus)

  • 8:30 AM ARRIVE at The Fashion Institute to purchase and receive your sewing kit for your classes, obtain your locker assignment, and receive your textbooks.
  • 10:00 AM LECTURE THEATRE to meet all of the faculty, staff, review rules and regulations, campus security, and more.
    • First year students are done for the day and second year students return to regularly scheduled classes at 1:00 PM.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an add/drop deadline?

The deadline to add a course, or drop a course and be eligible for a refund. Courses dropped on or before this date will not be recorded on the student transcript.

What is a withdrawal deadline?

The deadline to withdraw from a course in the term and receive a grade of "W". Withdrawals after this date will result in an "F" grade recorded on the student transcript.
