Olds College is proud to offer Green Certificate Agricultural Apprenticeship Training for High School
Students in Central Alberta in collaboration with Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AF) and Alberta
Education.

The Green Certificate Program provides trainees with opportunities to enter a variety of agriculture-related, structured learning pathways as a part of their senior high school program and to earn up to 16 Grade 12 diploma credits and a credential leading to a career in agribusiness. Students learn on the job, under the direction of experienced farm personnel. Trainees select one of the specializations and under the guidance of their own trainer, work towards mastering all skills within their training program including:

Green Certificate Testing

At the completion of training in each section of each Green Certificate program, students will attend Olds College, on a test day, to be formally evaluated on their knowledge and skills to determine if the student has met the general and specific outcomes specified for the course.

Training Opportunities

Training Opportunities are unique events designed to give students additional information about the College through a guided campus tour and program session, while learning from our instructors and gaining skills for their Green Certificate program.

Young Farm Worker Safety Training Workshop

Date: April 27^th, 2020 from 8:30 am - 4:00pm. - Workshop cancelled, stay tuned for future dates.
Location: The workshop is at Olds College in Duncan Marshall Place for registration and the first sessions. (You will be sent a map.)
Cost: The workshop fee is $45.00 per person. If you are registered with the Green Certificate Program your workshop fees are covered by the program. 

15 years running! We are excited to bring you this year's edition of the Young Farm Workers Safety Training Workshop. We cover a variety of farm safety topics that could include THINK IT THRU, Hazard Assessment, Mental Wellness in Ag, Livestock Safety, Bin Safety, Power Line Safety, Equine First Aid, Fire Safety, Fire Extinguisher Safety Training, etc. You will also be involved in a recruitment presentation to explore educational opportunities at our College. This Safety Training Workshop can qualify you for 1 High School Credit for AGR2950.

Green Certificate Equine Reproduction Workshop

Date: April 23, 2020 from 9:00am - 4:00pm - Workshop cancelled, stay tuned for future dates.

Registration will open on April 2, 2020 at 10am. Registration numbers will be limited to the first 20 students, so please register promptly.

You will have campus visit and presentation designed to help you explore educational opportunities and gain experience needed for your Equine Green Certificate program. Dr. Marion Anderson, Chair of the Equine Science program, will be presenting “Describe and Understand the Reproductive Cycle”, "Distinguish Between Features of a Horse's Reproductive Cycle", “Understanding Different Breeding Technologies" and "Compare Breeding Methods".

Green Certificate Large Animal Anatomy Workshop

Date: May 1, 2020 from 8:45am - 2:00pm - Workshop cancelled, stay tuned for future dates.
