The brewing industry in Alberta and Canada is growing rapidly. Customer demand has led to an explosion in the numbers of locally owned and operated craft breweries. The demand for locally produced brews has led to establishing the Olds College Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program, and the Olds College Brewery and Brewery Retail Store. The Olds College Brewery Retail Store sells cans, bottles, bombers, growlers and kegs. Our beers are also available at leading bars, restaurants, and liquor retailers across central Alberta! We produce all types of beer and train students in all beer styles, so we are constantly turning out new and creative seasonal brews in addition to our four ‘core’ brands.

As a social enterprise we are not profit driven. All revenue from beer sales goes toward supporting education and in doing so, the brewing industry. Our only goal is to train the next generation right and to produce the best beer possible while doing so.

2021 #BeTheBrewer Contest

Brightside and Alberta Beer Festivals are partnering up once again to give you a chance to #BeTheBrewer and experience the basics of what it’s like to build a beer. You choose it, name it, design it, and brew it (with a little help from some of our friends). We’re once again partnering with the Brewmaster Program at Olds College to brew up your creation and we’re enlisting some new faces from Bitter Sisters Brewing and SYC Brewing to lend their expertise in the process.

ABV: 5.4% | IBU: 36 | SRM: 38

Prairie Gold

This Pacific Northwest-styled IPA combines a full, malty backbone to balance an aggressive hopping schedule. Synergy 40 Mile Beer

We wanted to generate a certain 'Synergy' by partnering with Alberta Farmers and Red Shed Malting to make this an easy drinking beer for everyone. Synergy is a single malt, single hop Blonde Ale. Enjoy a cold one while they last.

STYLE: Blonde Ale | ABV: 5.0% | IBU: 20

2020 #BeTheBrewer Beer: The Walking Red

As a medium-bodied beer, The Walking Red demonstrates both aromas and flavours that are incredibly well balanced, presenting elements of toffee, caramel, nuttiness and fruit. Slight notes of roasted grain, dry brown sugar and a mild hop profile lend to a refreshingly dry finish. 2020 Alberta Beer Festival

Style: Irish Red Ale | ABV: 5.2% | IBU: 25

Pile Driver Double IPA

Every sip of our Pile Driver Double IPA hits the tongue with a heavy dose of hops and drives the flavour deep into your taste buds. Liberal use of hops late in the boil and dry-hopping creates flavours of syrupy mango and papaya with hints of passion fruit. Light sweetness and creamy mouthfeel conceal the power within.

ABV: 9.0% | IBU: 85 | SRM: 10

The Porter Formally Known As
(Black Widow) Out of Stock

This is a robust porter style beer that utilizes a blend of traditional English and North American hops to provide the perfect balance of hop bitterness and rich, roasty malts with a hint of smoke. What you get is an incredibly smooth dark ale with layers of malt complexity. The Porter Formerly Known As is a strong yet very drinkable beer. Be careful, she may bite you.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt, hops, yeast

Style: Porter | ABV: 5.3%

The Beer with the Golden Hop 007

This bright golden ale is hopped exclusively with 007: The Golden Hop™ and Citra™, giving it notes of orange, apricot, tangerine, and papaya with background piney and citrusy characteristics and a hint of black tea. Although hop-forward, the bitterness in this beer is restrained and balanced in order to provide a perfect refreshing beer on all different occasions. Cheers!

ABV: 4.9%

Saazquatch Lager

This Czech-style pils is a refined beast. While true to its style with fruity and floral tones and slight grassy notes... it definitely has attitude. The subtle spiciness of this beer's namesake Saaz hop complements its sweet and savoury malt character. Rarely seen, you don't need to have big feet to know this beer is sure to become a legend!

Style: Lager | ABV: 5.8% | IBU: 29
