Students have access to 475 scholarships, bursaries and prizes valued at +$580,000 each year thanks to our generous donors, partners and alumni!

  • Fall 2024 applications will open Aug. 15, 2024. Apply by Oct. 31 to be eligible for both Fall and Winter Awards.

  • Winter 2025 applications are open until Jan. 31, 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • For the purpose of awards, a resident of Alberta is defined as (unless otherwise stated):

    • A single person who has been out of high school for less than four years, and whose parents live in Alberta; 
      • or whose parents have recently left and the student has stayed in Alberta to study,
      • or has spent two periods of 12 consecutive months available to the labour force and Alberta is the last province in which 12 consecutive months have been spent, excluding time spent at a post-secondary institution.

    • A person who has been out of high school for four years or more, or is married/has been married; or is living common-law; or is a single parent.

    • Alberta is the last province in which 12 consecutive months have been spent,  excluding time spent at a post-secondary institution.

    • A person studying in Alberta and married to an Alberta resident.
  • You will receive an email to your Olds College of Agriculture & Technology student email account.

    • Access the online application on the Scholarships & Awards page of the Olds College website.
    • Select "Olds College Awards".
    • Log in using your Olds College email and password (top right).
                                 

     

    • Under the “My Applications” tab, complete your General Application.
    • Please note the Budget Application is per term. Calculate your monthly expenses and multiply by 4.
    • Select "Finish and Submit".
    • The system will automatically match you with all awards that you are eligible for.
    • Select "Recommended Opportunities" to view a list of awards that you qualify for that require an additional task.
    • Fall applications open on Aug. 15 and close on Oct. 31.
    • Students that apply after the Oct. 31 deadline will be considered for winter awards only. 
    • The deadline for winter award applications is Jan. 31.
  • No! While scholarships are generally academic-based, bursaries are based on a student’s financial need and awards are given out for a variety of different reasons, eg; where you live, where you graduated from high school, memberships with certain clubs and organizations, etc.

    However, you can’t receive a scholarship, bursary or award if you don’t apply!
  • Students that apply after Oct. 31 will be considered for winter awards only. So apply early to be considered for both Fall and Winter awards!
  • No! Awards are available for out-of-province and international students, too!

  • To meet the eligibility criteria for the Jason Lang and Louise McKinney scholarships, you must meet all the following requirements:

    • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person.
    • Must be continuing in full-time post-secondary studies.
    • Must be an Alberta resident.
    • Have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.2 on an 80% full course load in the previous fall and winter term (to meet Jason Lang eligibility), or be among the top 15 academic students in the previous fall and winter term (to meet Louise McKinney eligibility).
    • Students can only receive one of these scholarships per academic year.

    A maximum of three Jason Lang and/or Louise McKinney scholarships can be acquired in a student's academic lifetime.
