Our Brand

Our brand is who we are. It is what we do and why we do it. It represents our values, our vision and our mission. It is our promise to our students, our peers and our community to strive for excellence. Brand is not only comprised of logo and design. It includes our visual identity, promotional strategies, marketing, customer loyalty and media perception.

Having a consistent brand is crucial. Our brand is how the community perceives us. Each time our brand is viewed, heard, or interacted with, we have the opportunity to strengthen public perception of Olds College.

Visual Identity - logo, colours, typography

The consistent use of our visual identity — logos, colours, typography and graphic elements — makes us instantly recognizable as a college offering industry demand-driven programming focused on agriculture and technology. Staff and faculty can access Olds College branded Google templates, imagery, release forms and guidelines at OC Connect under the Marketing & Communications section.

  • Our logo is a key part of our brand. Using the correct logo ensures consistency and professionalism. The full colour logo is preferred, but it is available in alternative colours and formats upon request. The Olds College logo is only to be used on Marketing & Communications approved print and digital materials.

     

    This is the primary version of the Olds College logo. Wherever possible, this is the logo that should be used.

    The vertical orientation of the Olds College logo is the secondary-use logo.

  • Our brand colours create a strong and recognizable identity and ensure consistency. RGB values are used for digital and CMYK values are used for print.

    The colours below should be used in all digital communications.

    This includes social media, online and video applications.

  • Our approved fonts — Clan and Roboto Flex — ensure clear, consistent and effective communication across all print and digital materials. If you need a specific font, please contact the Marketing & Communications department.

    Clan is the primary brand font for print.

    Clan may be used for headlines, subheadings, body copy and all miscellaneous text in a given layout. Titillium may also be used for as an alternative for digital applications.

    Roboto Flex is the primary brand font for digital applications.

    It may be used for headlines, subheadings, body copy and all miscellaneous text in a given layout. Alternatively, Roboto can be used if Roboto Flex is unavailable.

Sub-Brands

Olds College has three sub-brands: Olds College Broncos, Olds College Brewery and the National Meat Training Centre. Each of these sub-brands reflects Olds College’s dedication to applied learning, industry leadership and community involvement. Whenever possible, their logos should be used alongside the Olds College logo.

Since these sub-brands have a commercial or enterprise component, they must follow all Olds College brand guidelines, including typography, colour and design standards. Usage and development of sub-brands is overseen by the Marketing & Communications department.

  • Broncos Athletics represents Olds College’s passion for sports, fostering teamwork, leadership and community among student-athletes. The Olds College Broncos teams compete in basketball, volleyball, soccer, futsal and rodeo. When referencing the team, always use “Olds College Broncos” on first mention, then “Broncos” for subsequent references. Sport-specific wordmarks are exclusively for Olds College Broncos use.

    To maintain a strong and consistent identity, it is essential to follow Olds College’s branding guidelines for logos, brand extensions and sub-brands. Any use of the Olds College Broncos logo — including clothing and merchandise — requires approval from Marketing & Communications with exceptions granted on a case-by-case basis.

  • The Olds College Brewery Retail Store sells cans, bottles, bombers, growlers and kegs. Olds College beers are also available at leading bars, restaurants and liquor retailers across central Alberta. Brewery blends education with craft brewing, producing unique, small-batch beers while giving students real-world experience in brewing and business operations. 

    The Olds College Brewery logo is used on all brewery merchandise and packaging.

    Established in 1969, the National Meat Training Centre provides skill and expertise to the meat industry. The Olds College Retail Meat Store sells products created by the students of our renowned Meat Processing Certificate program.

Branded Merchandise & Apparel

Clothing, merchandise and accessories are direct reflections of our brand, so the design must remain consistent and on brand. All clothing, merchandise and swag designs require approval from Marketing & Communications with exceptions granted on a case-by-case basis. Please visit the Olds College Campus Store for branded clothing, gifts and more.

  • Branded clothing creates a sense of community and pride for Olds College. All clothing and merchandise needs final approval by the Marketing & Communications department for logo placement and sizing.

  • Branded swag extends our identity beyond clothing and reinforces our brand. Branding for swag items varies depending on size, colour, item, etc. Please connect with the Marketing & Communications department for all order requests and approvals for swag items.

Photography & Video

Photography and video are essential in storytelling and help capture the essence of ‘breaking new ground’ by showing students, staff and faculty engaged in learning. Strong images and videos emphasize the elements of community and connection that are at the heart of the Olds College experience.

Staff and faculty can access Olds College imagery, release forms and guidelines at OC Connect under the Marketing & Communications section.

Social Media & Websites

The College encourages the responsible use of social media to support learning and teaching, and to build connections with community and stakeholders. The Olds College website reflects the College’s overall brand, mandate and mission. Content on the website should be user friendly, easy to navigate and optimized for mobile devices. 

Oversight and creation of all institutional social media accounts and websites is facilitated by the Marketing & Communications department. Visit Olds College policies and procedures for more information about the management of social media and digital content.

Writing Guidelines

Writing and storytelling helps Olds College showcase its history, programming, hands-on learning, applied research opportunities and passion for the agriculture industry. Olds College follows CP Style guidelines. Staff and faculty can access more detailed information regarding Olds College approved writing guidelines, acronyms and styles on OC Connect under the Marketing & Communications section.

Please note, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology should be written in full at first use with an ampersand, followed by “Olds College” or “the College” in subsequent mentions.
