Cannabis Botany

cannabis botany

Throughout the Cannabis Botany Badge, students will develop an understanding of the botany and taxonomy that is associated with crops being grown in controlled environment structures including greenhouses and warehouses.  By reviewing the genetics and breeding principles associated with modern Cannabis cultivar development, students will develop competence in recognizing and selecting for desirable traits. Students will also develop a deeper understanding of the role of plant nutrition in Cannabis plant performance.

This badge includes the following microcredentials:

Cannabis Plant Structure and Growth Cycle

In this microcredential, students will describe the different structures in a typical Cannabis plant as they are manifested during the different developmental stages during plant growth.

Genetic Breeding and Strains

Throughout this microcredential, students will review and develop an in-depth understanding of desirable Cannabis traits, how they have been introduced into the breeding regime from naturally occurring species and how they are maintained and reinforced by sexual and asexual propagation.

Fertilizer Techniques for Cannabis

In this microcredential, students will develop a deep understanding of Cannabis plant nutrition and the role it plays in ensuring the successful completion of a cropping regime that leads to superior plant performance.
