2023 RME Ken Wood Memorial Award
Congratulations to second-year Agricultural and Heavy Equipment diploma student Ethan Turner, this year's recipient of the Rocky Mountain Equipment (RME) Ken Wood Memorial Award.
Each year, this award is given to one student who is completing their Agricultural and Heavy Equipment diploma at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology, maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.8 and being actively involved in the community.
Turner was selected by the RME management team because of his personal statement essay describing how he has impacted his own agricultural community.
"Rooted in the values of my family's multigenerational farm, I've learned that investment in agriculture isn't just about business—it's about community. While showcasing cattle in 4-H and witnessing local businesses support us, it's shaped my commitment to giving back and nurturing my community," says Turner.
Ken Wood was a long-time employee with Rocky Mountain Equipment and was a huge advocate of the apprenticeship program and was a mentor to many young mechanics over the years. The award is valued at $7,034 which covers tuition and fees for the second year of the Agricultural and Heavy Equipment diploma.
