A pair of Olds College Broncos futsal players were recognized in Lac La Biche as the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) handed out All-Conference awards in the sport for the first time in its history.
Pedro Noschang (Novo Hamburgo, BRA / Business Management) was named the inaugural ACAC South Men’s Futsal Player of the Year, as well as being part of the ACAC South All-Conference team.
“Pedro is not only a talented student-athlete, he is also a great ambassador and representative of Broncos Athletics,” said Trina Radcliffe, Athletics Manager at Olds College of Agriculture & Technology, of Noschang’s accomplishment. “I am happy to see his dedication and commitment recognized with this award.”
Meanwhile, on the women’s side, Tiona Paton (Morinville, Alta. / Bachelor of Applied Science - Agribusiness) earned a spot on the ACAC South All-Conference team, adding to the two All-Conference awards she has received in women’s soccer in her three seasons in Olds.
Noschang was an instrumental piece all over the court for the Broncos, scoring eight goals in nine matches spanning the two ACAC South Regional competitions while also maintaining a high standard of defensive play throughout the winter. He added to his goal-scoring tally with one goal in three matches at the 2024 ACAC Men’s Futsal Championship, where the Broncos won a bronze medal.
Paton was equally important for the women’s futsal Broncos all season as she scored 13 goals in 10 ACAC South Regional matches, including a pair of hat-tricks. She maintained her form at the 2024 ACAC Women’s Futsal Championship, scoring both the Broncos goals in a 2-0 win over NAIT to begin the tournament before the Broncos fell in the quarterfinals.
