Olds College Student Awarded Prestigious Golf Scholarship

December 04, 2024

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is proud to announce that Hannah Isinghood, a first-year student in our Turfgrass Management program, received the Royal and Ancient Golf Club Scholarship.

Over 200 applications were submitted globally for this year’s scholarship, with only 10 recipients chosen.

The R&A Scholars Program supports individuals who are breaking barriers and leading innovation in the golf industry. The award includes a bursary of up to £10,000 per year for educational expenses, up to an additional £5,000 per year for golf-related costs and mentorship from within the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews membership. It also provides a membership for a peer support network of scholars and an invitation to a leadership conference in St Andrews, Scotland.

“This scholarship is an incredible opportunity to further my education and connect with others who share my passion for the golf industry,” said Isinghood. “I am excited to continually develop my leadership capabilities through the support of the R&A and contribute to shaping the future of golf, making golf courses more sustainable and open to all.”

Isinghood’s journey into greenkeeping began in 2020, where she worked for four seasons at Valley Ridge Golf Club in Calgary, gaining invaluable experience in the field. Currently, she is completing her internship with the Pebble Beach Company at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, which has further fuelled her passion for sustainable golf course management.

Isinghood’s achievement reflects her hard work, passion and vision for a sustainable and inclusive future in golf. As she continues her studies at Olds College, she is sure to inspire others to follow her path in Turfgrass Management.

Please join us in congratulating her on this remarkable achievement.
