The 2025 Olds College Impact Report showcases the impact of the College community over the past year and demonstrates how the College is advancing the priorities of its three-year strategic plan, Deep Roots, Bold Futures.
In 2024-25, Olds College welcomed more learners than ever before through three schools, Industry Training & Continuing Education programs and dual credit offerings. The College enrolled more than 3,500 students, while on-campus tours and conferences attracted over 3,000 visitors from 34 countries. Significant investments in the W.J. Elliott Building marked an exciting transformation of facilities, better preparing students in the School of Trades & Skills. These highlights are only a few of the successes featured in the Impact Report.
“I am proud to present both our Olds College Impact Report and Smart Farm Impact Report, celebrating the achievements, collaborations and passion that make our College remarkable,” says Dr. Debbie Thompson, President & CEO, Olds College. “Guided by our three-year strategic plan, Deep Roots, Bold Futures, we are reaffirming our agricultural foundation while driving innovation, sustainability and technology in the sector. These reports highlight the progress we have made, the partnerships we have nurtured and the passion that defines our community.”
The 2025 Smart Farm Impact Report showcases the College’s commitment to industry-driven applied research, education and training — and the positive impact Olds College is building in the global agriculture industry as it continues to advance agriculture for a better world.
Over the past year, the Olds College Centre for Innovation (OCCI) team and Smart Farm achieved significant milestones, ranking among the top 20 research colleges in Canada according to Research Infosource Inc. and earning national recognition for Olds College’s Technology Access Centre for Livestock Production (TACLP), along with many other achievements. The Smart Farm also celebrated seven years of innovation, spanning 3,300 acres across five locations in two provinces.
“We look forward to building on this momentum and sharing the Smart Farm’s ongoing impact,” says Todd Ormann, Vice President, External Relations & Research, Olds College. “Together, we’re shaping a more sustainable, innovative and resilient future for agriculture. By fostering collaboration among industry partners and researchers, the Smart Farm plays a pivotal role in testing and promoting sustainable practices and addressing the opportunities and challenges within agriculture.”
The Smart Farm is working towards providing producers with real-life applied research to help them make informed decisions about implementing technology in their own operations.
